Ok I guess it is all about Petey now

The first night we had Petey, Wood went to the store and bought some dog food and this way too giant rope, St. Bernard size, which of course I told him. Well while I was working with Petey in the office last week, I was looking for something to entertain him other than my fingers while I was typing, and brought the way to giant rope toy upstairs. Petey LOVED it. He whipped that thing back and forth hitting himself on the sides and thought it was the best thing since sliced bread (which he also loves). Wood was oh so gentlemanly like and didn't even hint at I told you so :-)

Petey- week 1

Well , we took him to the groomer's on Friday and now we have a little lamb chop. Wood and Bry both think it looks a little less froo froo.... I say he looks like a lamb now. He really is a pretty good little dog and very very affectionate. Getting a little better about the house training but he still does have his moments. I had to scold him pretty strongly a little bit ago and he now comes shirkingly to me, all curled up and still very very sorry.... we'll see how sorry he is until the next time he decides to get angry with one of us leaving and leaves a calling card on one of the rugs. He doesn't like wet grass and seems to prefer using the pinestraw instead of the lawn. Works for us, but it is pretty hilarious what he will do to avoid getting his feet wet on the grass. We're borrowing a dog crate from Bry and I plan to train him to be in there when we have to run errands, instead of locked in the pantry. We got him some toys and he is starting to like those a little better than my fingers, although they do still seem to be the preferred chew and tug of war toy. (this shot was from before the scolding)

Petey- the continuing saga

Well he does in fact have a chip and today just happens to be his 1yr old birthday. So we couldn't leave him at the animal shelter. The phone number that matches the chip does not match the name of the person that bought him from Petco. I googled the name and got a number but it has been disconnected. We did call the number we were given and had to leave a message on that person's cell phone and we are waiting for a reply to see if the dog even belongs to her. It's his birthday today!!! Is that coincidence or what? I can't believe how emotional I am getting over a dog that I just saw and was friends with (before I had to leave) for just 24 hours.

Petey Jorge Peanut

A wee but of an update. Seems as though as sweet as Petey is, he has a bit of my childhood dog , Rusty , in him, ie he has attitude issues. I guess he likes me so much that when I am not around he pees and poops on the carpets. Wood has dutifully been taking him out every couple of hours and he won't go outside but waits and goes in the house. Our first experience was as I was packing to leave Sunday afternoon. He seemed a little anxious and sure enough he peed on our bedroom rug. Then I went in the living room and noticed a couple of tootsie rolls on our dining room carpet. And we were worried that he couldn't go! Then as soon as I left Wood says he went in theliving room and peed in front of my chair and on the carpet behind my chair!
The dog is a real sweetie and loves to cuddle... Wood says he is sleeping on my pillows both in bed and on the couches, BUT this peeing and pooping has got to stop.
Seems we also misunderstood when the humane society is open so Wood gets to babysit Petey Jorge Peanut for a couple more days.
He does ride in the car very politely. At least that is one thing

Celebrating Kim's birthday

Wood, Bry, Kim and I went out to dinner to celebrate Kim's bd last night and feasted at the Appalachian grill. We had so much good food to eat that we decided to forgo the bluegrass concert at the park and go back home. A good decision it turns out as when we were turning into our neighborhood, a little lost poodle ran under the car and I just barely missed hitting him. Wood and Bry corraled him and Bry finally got him to come to us. No one in our neighborhood seems to be missing him so we will take him to the local humane society of Monday to see if he has a chip that indicates his owners. Wood and I are still discussing what we will do if he isn't claimed. He is a cute little guy and quite attached to me already, but we really weren't looking for a poodle and kind of wanted to wait until closer to Christmas to get our dog. He is very affectionate and really wants to be with people. I barely heard two little squeeks last night and Wood (softy that he is) said see I knew he would do that, and quicker than I could blink the little guy was sleeping on our bed at the foot... well until about 3:30 when Wood took him out to the bathroom and then when the little guy came back in he jumped right up and cuddle in the crook of my arm. A few minutes later he very comfortably moved to just inbetween both of our pillows at the top of the bed where he spent the rest of the night. Yes.... I am getting attached already.

Juvenile Bald Eagle

On Friday morning Wood and I were working away and he was telling me something about work when I jumped up and said I think that is an eagle! Sure enough a juvenile bald eagle had landed on the top of a tree across the street. By the time we got to Wood's better camera he had flown away
