This is a fish trap built by Native Americans that lived in the area. It is many hundreds of years old.
You can read all about the history of the train and its cars as well as the sights along the way in this little pamphlet that now belongs to Emerson's library. ;-)
Ah isn't he cute. Emerson's favorite game on this ride was to go between Bry and Kim's outstretched arms that kept him in our little 4 spot place on the train. He had a blast doing that.
So I guess I will just post this backwards. Kim, Bry and Emerson joined us in the mountains for a couple of days and I thought Emerson might like a ride on the Blueridge train.... maybe next year :-), but he did LOVE the little $1 train that was perfect 2 yr old hand size to play with. It is quite a lazy 10-15 mile an hour ride to the nearby towns of Mckaysville, GA and Copperhill, TN. Pretty scenary but a very slow way to go. Very relaxing actually.
