Spring at Redtop

I seem to be having trouble getting my camera to focus but just wanted you to see the beauty of spring and dogwoods blooming here. This one was actually taken last night on our drive over to Petey's beach which has totally disappeared. Lake Allatoona is actually 1 foot above full pool now. Hurray and Happy Earth Day!

Tribute to Mom

I found this Mother's day gift that I wrote for mom about 32 years ago and thought I would share:

Thanks Mom

There are so many things I’ve never thanked you for;

Things that really shouldn’t pass by without note of appreciation because they make you

the special Mother that you are.

Thanks Mom for sitting up with me when I was sick (especially holding my head in the bathroom).

Thanks Mom for not minding too much when I wormed in between Dad and your hugs.

Thanks Mom for comforting me when I had bad dreams (even when that usually meant me digging holes in your elbow).

Thanks Mom for making me take the much needed naps that I always struggled so against.

Thanks Mom for making me eat my vegetables (at least one bite) before getting any dessert.

Thanks Mom for keeping my clothes mended and ironed.

Thanks Mom for never hiding the love that you and Dad share for each other.

Thanks Mom for encouraging me to practice my flute every day (and for letting me skip an occasional summer).

Thanks Mom for cheering me on at softball games (at times I doubt if wild horses could have dragged you away).

Thanks Mom for letting me ride my bike all over the place (those were special times).

Thanks Mom for showing me that you are a real person – someone with an identity other than “mom”.

Thanks Mom for continuing to be a special mother to me even though I am now a mother myself; in fact, it seems I had to become a mother before I realized and appreciated the kind of Mother God blessed me with.

I thank Him and praise Him for you.

Thanks, Grace, for being my mother.

Your loving daughter,

Barbara
