Anole caught in the act
If you click on the picture and make it bigger you can see how really cool his throat is!
Ok, I know better - I knew this wasn't a chameleon, really I did, but I do thank two of my wonderful children for reminding me that there is a very distinct difference between chameleons and anoles - feet, eyes, head shape, etc etc etc.
I feel I have done my job as a parent that I have raised insect and reptile loving children :-) You guys know your stuff :-)
I am proud :-)

snake in the grass
Well not exactly in the grass.... more like the woods right by our house and the drive way. Luckily he is facing our neighbor so I bet he wants to visit their yard.
Now you all know I like critters and I like snakes ok too, until I found out their are poisonous ones here and now I don't like them so much. Rattlesnakes are easy - I know what they look like and know that they make noise :-)
We also had this interesting fellow
And I wasn't able to capture a picture yet of the little chameleon (with the HUGE ballooning red throat) that is having the best time playing hide and see with Petey.
Also haven't seen any of the slithering skinks for a day or two :-)

not last night but the night before
Twenty four robbers came knocking at my door.... ok probably most of my readers are way to young to remember that jump rope song, and I didn't really have 24 robbers come knocking but it sure sounded like it. We had the worst storm, or maybe second to worst since I moved here. The sky looked like it had a short in it! Constantly flashing for about 2 hours and right over our house. Thunder wasn't even a second delayed and it shook the whole place. Petey and I just put pillows over our heads and enjoyed the light and sound show as best we could. Cowabunga! You don't get storms like this in California!

Lions and Tigers and Bears! Oh My!
Well maybe caterpillars, toads and turtles. We went on the Iron Hill trail hike yesterday. Below in order of appearance.
One of the four bridges on the hike
Peekaboo! this guy really did just wish I would go away
A brown toad
An orange toad
Our weird tree still stands
Butterflies to come, oh boy!
Mmm Georgia clay - the laundry's worst nightmare
And the lean to still remains. It isn't far from a boat launch. I think someone set themselves up quite a nice place to hang out. Compete with fire pit near by and some roses which I missed in the lower bottom right of the picture. If you blow this picture up you might see them
