morning

Here are a couple of views of my favorite statue of the weekend

Weekend 1 in DC

Visited with Anne and Mark on Saturday and as always had a wonderful time. Their front yard is looking especially wonderful since they landscaped. We went out to Chili's for lunch and then to see "The Devil wears Prada" Anne and I both liked it and Mark said he liked the beginning ;-). All I have to say is if my first week of work here last week was as bad as 'the new Emily' I think I would have told them all where to go. Some seriously nasty women, for sure. Sunday I visited the Hirschhorn Museum and the ground floor of the National Art Gallery. I especially love Rodin's work and they both had lots. So all in all I was quite thrilled. Some of my favorite work was in the National Art Gallery which isn't really a part of the Smithsonian. I took lots of pictures of one particular statue. Going to see if they actually came out tonight and then will post if one of them did. All in all a great weekend, if not still a little hot. But then so is everyone.

Bugs and such

Wood has been the fortunate one to spot most of the interesting bugs around the house. He has seen luna moths twice and this little fellow was sitting on the hood of his truck Saturday morning. Me , the lover of bugs, never spots a one, but Wood the not so lover of bugs seems to see them all the time I took him out to a more comfortable spot in the pinestraw by some bushes Wood was also fortunate enough to pick up this fine hitchhiker on our trip up to Chicago last week. He felt something crawling on his arm after a brief stop in Kentucky (which is most gorgeous). Wood wanted it off and I wanted him to hold still while I grabbed a picture. We compromised with him in a pocket of the door and then I took him outside on our map. I believe it is a Hebrew moth, although I would have named it a Dalmatian moth. Notice the blue up by his head and on his legs. Very very cool.
