Last walk in NF for the month of June

Went out a little earlier this morning for the Goat Island walk and was accompanied by the setting full moon, pink skies and a half, brilliant double rainbow over the falls. Since it was a little earlier and I was pretty much by myself (too early for the ususal hikers) I went the opposite direction so it would be a little later in the morning when I reached the more heavily wooded section of the trail. I was just hiking along noticing that there were more sea gulls than I have ever seen at the beach (LOTS of flying termites/moths/some sort of tasty treat for them this time of year - in fact some times it isn't safe to walk with your mouth open) and was thinking about work and the goods and services we should/could be providing, when I happened to glance up to see a huge raccoon lumbering across the path and down into the brush close to the river. What a treat!

Niagara Falls

Wish you all could have been with me for my morning walk around Goat Island at 6 am. It is a beautiful 2 mile jaunt around an island that separates the Buffalo and Niagara Rivers, so you get a real close up of the rapids and the Horseshoe Falls and Bridlevail Falls (not sure if that is the name or American Falls). Anyway it was about 60 degrees, the sun was shining, the birds were singing, flowers blooming, grey squirrels chasing black squirrels and best of the all.... drum roll.... there was a gorgeous full rainbow in the mist that rises from the falls. What a perfectly spendiforous way to start summer.

Summer Storms

For the second day in a row, I have had the pleasure (only because I wasn't driving) of experiencing glorious thunderstorms. The summer pattern here is that it is hot and muggy during the day and huuuuuuge thunderheads build up and then drop it all about 5 or 6 pm, resplendent with booming thunder and lightening. Fun to watch and listen to, but if you are on the road... almost impossible to see to drive, it is raining so hard. The continuing saga of the house... got a phone call this morning that they couldn't get the bathroom tile we agreed on last night, so we were supposed to go pick out new tile - they are going to lay it over the other bathroom floor and shower floor tile. So with much mumbling, grumbling and cursing, we did. I think we got "surely you can' t screw this up tile" but who knows. Guess I shouldn't complain since this tile and the labor to install is not costing us anything BUT it isn' t what we wanted, so I get to grumble a wee bit. IF they get it installed this week, I'll post pictures. Our plantation shutters get installed Thursday. No progress on the landscaping!!!

Moving in

Well good news and bad news... not exactly sure which is which. We will be moving in June 13, had wanted to move in June 11... and the master bath tile floor is going to be replaced with 6x6 white tile with a 3x6 cobalt blue border 6 inches in all the way around the floor. Should look nice, but it won't be the hexagonal tile I wanted. The hexagonal could not be made to look good, so the tile guy and Bruce (the builder) are replacing with the white and cobalt blue for free. Can't wait to move in.

Bop and Ellen Posted by Hello

It has begun

You've asked to participate in my adventures and here is the beginning. As I am enthralled with the bugs at our new house, you'll probably be tempted to call this Bug's blog, but I thought my sister might get a kick out of me calling it BAB's or the Bodacious adventures of Barb. The url just lets you know where I am- GA babs. Check out Wood's for the latest deck pictures. I LOVE IT. http://woodsterswrealworld.blogspot.com/
